Potted Hedging

Potted Hedging is a flexible, highly successful choice for many gardens as it offers year round planting and well established root systems.

Why Choose Potted Hedging

  • All Year Planting: Plants can be planted into the ground at a time that suits you, unlike the alternative bare-root hedging which can only be planted when the plants are dormant from late Autumn to early Spring when weather conditions can make it more difficult to access the site.
  • Protected Roots: Fully containerised plants have excellent root systems which means zero shock for the plants when they are planted out into the ground, this also helps prevent damaged during transportation, storage and delivery
  • High Survival Rate: Well established roots have a head start on their bare root equivalent meaning they can quickly adapt and thrive once planted into your garden soil
  • Instant Hedge: Your potted plants will give you a near instant looking hedge as the plants are always much bushier than their bare root equilavent, they also root much faster into the ground because they are actively growing when you buy them.

Which Hedge Should I Choose?

There are many different varieties of hedging to choose from so it's important to take your time and find a type that will tick the following boxes

  • Do I need an evergreen hedge, one that will hold leaves all year round and feel like a green wall
  • How much space have I got, am I limited in either height or width
  • What is my soil like, is it heavy clay that is prone to flooding or is it dry and sandy
  • How much work do I want to put into maintaining the hedge over the years to come
  • Would I benefit from a thorny hedge to keep increase security or keep out animals
  • What about a native hedge that would be of benefit to local biodiversity and beneficial pollinators
