Thalictrum rochbrunianum or Meadow Rue is a personal favourite of mine, it is an architectural giant perennial highly coveted for adding ethereal texture and towering interest to garden designs. It produces exceptionally tall, strong, dark purple-crimson stems that carry open, airy, cloud-like sprays of small, nodding lavender-purple flowers highlighted by prominent, tassel-like clusters of bright yellow stamens. A gracefully looking perennial with a neat base of very attractive fern like blue green foliage, it introduces a beautiful delicate, see through effect and majestic charm to partially shaded borders, woodland edges, or cottage garden designs.
