Tulip, Daffodil & Anemone

Bulb Combination No 1.

This is quite a complimentary lasagne that will flower from March to May giving you high impact over a short time frame and very little need to add anything more that a few simple viola on top. I like to add Viola and Bellis to the top of the pop to ensure a continuous bloom from here until middle of next year!

Flowering Times

• March - April: 10 The Anemone 'De Caen' at 25cm in height will burst through first with their bright cup shaped flowers in radiant colours of red, purple, pink and white. 
• March – April: 10 The Narcissus 'Tete a Tete' will pop up around the same time at 20cm on sturdy stems, giving a bright pop of double yellow flowers that will not budge in any wind!
• April – May: 10 Tulips 'Blueberry Mix' make a bold grand finale with fabulous shades of purple, blue and white that take over from the Anemones
• October - May: Plant some Viola and Bellis into the top of the pot because there is nothing as trustworthy as Viola and Bellis to guarantee you a pot full of colour from now until well into 2027

Planting Time and Depth

• Ideal Time to Plant: October to November but don't panic if you haven't planted by December or even into January, they will still flower but just a little later than usual
• The Rule of Thumb: Plant every bulb at a depth equal to three times its own height. so tulip and daffodil bulbs need to go down roughly 15–20 cm (6–8 inches), while tiny top-layer crocuses or muscari only need about 5 cm (2 inches) of soil over them. 
• The Spacing: Keep the bulbs 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 4 cm) apart or roughly the width of one bulb, the bulbs must never touch each other or the sides of the pot, as contact can trap moisture and lead to rot,
• The Depth: The rule is largest & atest at the bottom so for example Allium would go below Daffodils and Tulips. The smallest bulbs flower the earliest and therefore these go nearer the top of the pot
• Top Tip: Don't panic about the bulbs being too deep or over crowded, the lower shoots will naturally curve and steer around any bulbs sitting directly above them as they grow upward to reach the light
