A highly popular and classic dwarf Michaelmas Daisy celebrated for its outstanding color and uniform growth. Named after a 20th-century German professor who popularized asters, this hardy herbaceous perennial is widely recognized by the Royal Horticulture Society for its reliable, vibrant late-season display. It forms a compact, sturdy bush of deep green foliage that breaks into a spectacular blanket of rich, lavender-blue semi-double flowers centered with bright golden-orange eyes. It is incredibly free-flowering, hardy, and non-flopping.
It maintains a tight, well-behaved habit, reaching a height of about 30–45 cm (12–18 inches) and a similar spread of 30–45 cm. The nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to late-season pollinators, frequently swarming with honeybees, bumblebees, and butterflies looking for food before winter.
It grows best in full sun to very light partial shade. Full sun guarantees the most dense arrangement of flowers.
Prefers fertile, consistently moist, but well-drained soil. It tolerates clay and heavy soil, but hates sitting in waterlogged winter ground
